You're perfectly entitled to your opinion. That was why I originally
didn't talk much about my job situation because some people might feel
the same way. However, since it's football/baseball season and
Warriors news is seriously lacking at this point, I decided to post
something given the unusual circumstances I ran into back in June.
Plus, while I don't know if I would call the others in this Warriors
NG as "friends". However, quite a few of us have been around for a
long time and I'm sure any personal issues we feel like sharing won't
be looked down on in the newsgroup.
I should point that if you're against off topic posts, then you
certainly didn't have to read my post since I specifically noted it as
off topic. Plus, the subject line should have given it away that the
subject was probably non basketball related. However, given your
usual posts (or rants), then maybe this isn't too unusual.
Thankfully, I do have "real friends" (despite what you might think),
so I don't really need your sympathy. But thanks for writing anyway.
I look forward to your next rant about Nellie's boobs or something as
the Warriors season gets closer.

Rubbish you don't mean offense.
Also, if not interested, don't read OT topics.
Frankly I don't mind knowing a bit about who's posting on this site.

Topics about Nellie's 'boobs' should really be banned though...

Thus the OT: posting. Just ignore the OT threads instead of reading
the ones that are clearly OT and labeled as such and then bitching
about it. That's just as weird....

David,
I concur about knowing a little bit more about some of the folks on
the NG. However, not everyone's going to feel like sharing all of
their lives and that's ok too.
To All,
Thanks for the various notes. It was an interesting summer to say
the least and I'm looking forward to my new gig as a Sales Engineer.
It's going to be a big change. I was primarily a post sale customer
support/tech support guy (with some other stuff along the way) for
many years. Simply put, the customer already paid for the service or
product and my job was to help fix the problems that came up.
With my new gig, I'm still going to be doing support, but providing
PRE-SALES support to the sales team and their potential customers.
While it's not my responsibility to make the sale, I do have to help
move the process along by providing technical knowledge. I think I
will have to get some sales training since I haven't really worked in
sales before.
I actually found out this morning that my new manager wants me to
travel to the corporate headquarters. So, I'll be flying to Virginia
monday morning. :)

Sure it's OT. But I don't think you'll have too much trouble avoiding it,
if you really want to.
Don't take offense, Don. A whole bunch of people care, even if we haven't
met you!

Ditto! I appreciated hearing about how your life has turned itself
around and how well you're doing. Don't be bothered by small-minded
negative people...There's no upside in paying them attention, they
just try to suck the life out of you.
I hope your life is a harbinger of good things to come for the
Warriors! :)

That right there is funny really funny. Like I said no offense, but these "I
cant get a date and lost my job posts" especially
from those who actually post good content are just boring.

No worries at all, if I thought there would a "hugely" negative
response, i wouldn't have posted in the first place. :)
The other reason for me posting? If one or the other happened
(getting laid off or my car getting hit), it probably wouldn't be all
that interesting.
But, it was just the timing that both things happened within hours of
each other. One of the weird things in life that happens!
In any case, thanks to everyone for their thoughts.

Just for fun, you should try to find out what what was your horoscope
