can't come soon enough if you ask me...

the Ray's were robbed of a home run and base hit in the same game this past
series...and the errors by the officials were blatant and obvious yet
neither were reversed...!

I think we need the electronic strike zone too... the rule book clearly
defines the strike zone and we have the technology implement it... It's too
bad that every single umpire thinks they are allowed to interpret something
that was CLEARLY DEFINED to their own personal liking...we need to take as
much "guess work" out of the hands of humans wherever it can be replaced
with failsafe technology.

I respectfully disagree Chuck,

The calling of the balls and strikes by an umpire is what makes baseball
baseball. The human element is what keeps us/me coming back for more, it
adds the mystical element of the unknown to the equation.

Its what makes up hope against hope, cross our fingers, say a prayer to the
baseball gods in key situations when the hurler stands on the bump staring
in for the sign with 2 outs runners on the corners with a 3and 2 count on
the batter, I think I would break my heart to see a red light go up for a
called 3rd strike instead of watching the individual style of an umpire
ringing up the batter... it kinda takes some of the fun out it... don't ya
think ?

I do think replay has a use on line calls and home runs that may or may not
clear the yellow line.

Other than that , I would not mess with the Grand Old Game one bit !

>>>The calling of the balls and strikes by an umpire is what makes baseball

Nope...it's what gives an umpire the power to corrupt (the rules) which
they all do to some degree...

>>>The human element is what keeps us/me coming back for more<<<

Me too, but it's the play on the field and around the bases... by the
athletes not the high and mighty officials

I say take as much of the guess work out of the equation and let the umps
officiate with pure rules (like the clearly defined strike zone)and not the
convoluted ones they invoke on a regular basis...

IMO, when it comes down to the pennant races and playoffs...there is
absolutely NO room for officiating errors and a razor thin laser beam is a
whole lot more accurate in determining if a plane was breached by the ball
than human eyes and perception...

IMO, the umpires have been the root of way too much of the drama in almost
every post season series throughout recent history...
