I am currently listening to WFAN and they have just announced that the
Braves have traded Teixeira to the Angels for Casey Kotchman and a AA
right-handed pitcher.
Now, Teixeira is a free agent with Boras as his agent as I understand it.
I hear that the Yankees are very interested in signing him.
It will be interesting to see the Angels try and sign him.
It is also my understanding that Valdy is a free agent at the end of the
season.
regards,

If only the A's management had enough sack to turn a trade like this
instead of selling the team out like they did ...

Must suck to be an A's fan -- all four of you.

There have been many occasions that it was great to be an A's fan, and NOT
only when we won the World Series. SF Giants and their fans have never known
that feeling. Yet their fans are loyal and plenty thanks to the posh park,
though this year the team has the worst home record in MLB.

It was great to be an A's fan in the early to mid 70's. Through all the
Finley troubles, it was a great team. Billy Ball era was exciting too,
including the early career of Rickey! Though there were some difficult times
following Billy Ball for a short while, things were looking up soon enough
when the Haas family took over the A's and young guys coming up like Canseco
and McGwire, with others on the team like Lansford, Hendu, and Eck. That was
a great time! Attendance was rockin', because ownership lined-up a great
team and kept them around for a while, well at least a short while.

I hated to see Rickey go and come and go.... then there was the Canseco
trade that was really disrespectful and embarrassing, pulling him off the
on-deck circle, for Sierra, who sucked for the A's. Things went down from
there once the Hass family had enough, and then LaRussa left, and eventually
following him to StL was Honeycutt, McGwire, Stottlemyre, Gallego, Eck, even
Lansford as coach and Dave McCay and Barry Weinberg the trainer! What the
hell happened? Just because the Haas family sold? Didn't LaRussa care enough
about the fans, but he comes back for his animal benefits in Oakland?

Then recent ownerships have done very little to live to the legacy of the
A's. Once a player develops into a star they get rid of him. And when there
is a real star available via trade (i.e. Teixeira) the A's aren't working a
deal, unless it's for a retread player, one often on the DL.

For all the complements given to Beane, I say he's a loser, along with
ownership. They are moving to Fremont, and it will not be the Oakland A's
anymore. Come to think of it, it hasn't been the Oakland A's for a very long
time.
