View Full Version : Robbie Keane cost us £7m- ish in 2002

We had him for 6 seasons after signing him from Leeds in summer 2002
for about £7 mill (according to Wikipedia!! ) He played 197 games
scoring 107 goals, 80 in the prem.

So to sell him , at 28 , for about £19 mill is good . Yes , I am
disappointed , but having seen Spurs beat an ordinary Norwich City 5-1
with dos Santos and Modric having impressive
first games in England and Bent getting 4 goals , makes up for it !!!

The problem is not with him going, as it is bloody good business to get £20
million for a player worth no more that 10-12.

The issue is the manner of his leaving, with him stating a few weeks ago
that he wanted to hang-up his boots at Spurs because he loves the club so
much.

Whilst not on the same level as Judas, he is still a treacherous lying
Pikey.
He actually requested a transfer, and as far as I'm concerned he's just
scum.

Hardly slagging him off.
I'll try and say this in simple terms, so that you can possible understand
some of what I'm trying to say.
I was just saying that you have a player who on avarage scores 13 goals a
season, and have paid about 8 million over the odds for him.
The reason he is not popular is the manner in which he left, which left a
bad taste because of his recent protestations of loyalty. That's why he was
being critisised. Nobody would have been so disappointed if he had come and
and said that he wants to go, but the little Pikey just kept quiet.
I know that it's not what you want to hear, because it takes all the wind
out of your argument, but those are the facts.
Now go and find a grown-up who can explain what these wiggly letter things
actually mean.

20 million in the market we are in is right. He is also a club captain
and top goal scorer in the prem. He is 28 but if we come close to
winning the prem with him in playing in the side week in week out then I
say he is worth every penny.

lol. :)

Nonsense. For a player averaging 13 goals a season?

>He is also a club captain

Wrong. Ledley King is the captain.

> and top goal scorer in the prem.

Wrong again - and not even close to being close

He is 28 but if we come close to
> winning the prem with him in playing in the side week in week out then I
> say he is worth every penny.

For sure....but Rafa likes his rotation policy, and that will screw Keane
up. He is at his best when he plays every game regularly. If he doesn't play
regularly he becomes a petulant twat who can be disruptive

As for winning the Prem, do you honestly think that one player of Keanes
quality is going to brifge the gulf between youn and Man U? He will score
goals, but if you think you're getting another Torres, you'll be very
disappointed.
I saw Torres score against us at WHL last season, and I actually applauded
his goal it was so good. Keane isn't in the same league as him.

I have no malice towards Keane ( I still have a shirt with his name and
number on it)...but I wish he could have behaved like a man, and told the
supporters the truth.
