bushdoctor48@webtv.net 07-28-2008, 03:50 AM The jays really need to win this up
coming stand with the first place drays.
With 57 games left in the regular season,
if the jays could possibly manage to win
2/3 of those games one way or another
they would finish with about 90 wins give
or take 1 or 2.
Which may be enough for a wild card shot.I know its a long shot, but
anything
can happen in mlb.
I find it humours that a team with an under .500 record may possibly win
the
nl west.Thats just not right!?
I also find it humours that while the sports
gurus and supposed expert analysts have
all but written the jays off a month ago.
Yet they still like the chances of teams,
like the tigers who have an almost identical record as the jays
yaokwhatever.
The jays have a much better rotation and
bull pen than many teams in the al,and
certainly better than the much ballyhooed
overrated, and under achievers of the last
decade tigers.Who can't seem to get by
under rated twins and overachieving ws.
Or can't seem to muster up against the
worst team in their division kc,who has
spanked their butts going back to last
seasons nose dive tank job.
You can never have enough pitching, but
the jays need one big bat in the lineup
to put fear into opposing pitchers who
now are able to pitch around guys like
rios and wells.Wtf why not hire on bonds
who says he will work for minimum or
less, fuck what the sports writers say
and the american media, bonds is still
one of the best hitters to ever play the
game period. That was the idea with
Frank Thomas so why not give Barry
a shot for bargain basement price,so
what if he did riods,so did a lot of
guys like jason the porn star look
alike giambi,just because he wears
pin stripes and stooled to the feds
makes it ok????To get his sorry liming ass out of the wringer.
Dollars to doughnuts the wild card comes
from the ale this season.Especially with all the hype about the last
season at wanker stadium and the up start drays and the duel of the deep
pocket twins.
Americans lap up that cindy and nostalgia
stuff for sure, more revenue for the cash
strapped soon to extinct economy in places like florida, who depend on
tourist
bucks to survive.Who but the upper crust
is gona be able to hop in the mini van
at march break with the kids and drive
5 or 6 $100 miles to fantasy land
and then pay a couple of grand for room
and board plus big ticket prices to go
on thrill rides, when it costs about 12
bucks an hour to drive down the express
way for fuel only.

Haven't we heard this same song and dance for the last seven years?
Here are the numbers: For the Jays to get 90 wins and beat Boston they
will need to go 36 -20. (their current Cito pace) Unlikely but
possible. But Boston will have to play under .500. Very unlikely.
They'll also have to have a better record than the 4 other teams ahead
of them including the Yankees. I think Brad Wilkerson has a better
shot at the batting title.
This team is not going to make the playoffs this year or any year JP
is at the helm. My guess is he finally gets the boot and Godfrey makes
a big pitch for Gillick whom already said it's his last year in
Philly.
You can't overpay a few good veterans and hope your lousy draft picks
over-achieve. The jays have to blow it up and follow every other mid
to low end budget successful team. They have to put away their
computers down and actually scout young players. They have to hire
knowledgeable people that know the game; the minor leagues; the best
US high school coaches and alternate pools of untapped talent like
South East Asia and Central America. Boston has some great vets but
the also churn out Paplebaum, Elsberg and Pedoria. The Rays kids are
now paying dividends. The Twins seem to consistently find the great
young play everyone else missed.

I hear what your saying loud and clear,
but like I said anything can happen.except
maybe for brad winning a batting title...lol
But I am of the opinion this team has not
peaked yet and yes it may be to late even
if they do,but what the hell they have as
much chance as the tigers or the twins imho.
And cracks are starting to show in those
up start drays, yes they are young and talanted bunch, but there is also
somthing
to be said for experince for sure, look
at the current turmoil with manny the
king of spoiled in boston, they have a worse road record then the jays.
Where would the rsox be without papi
who by the way was dumped by those
pesky twins duhhhhhhhhhh.
You said four teams five if you where not
counting the rsox.pesonaly i'd be happy
if they finished ahead of the evil empire.
Who sure lack pitching depth and a rash
of injuries to key hitters like matsiu, and
ageing clunkers like giambi and damon
who has know been relagate from lead
off to dh.
And its anybodys guess how long rubber
arm guys like andy p and musina hold
up in the stertch in the once invincible
rivera is showing signs of age,and has
blown several games this season already.
Inculding giving up a salm to the jays
once ths year.
i agree jp has to go and i hope he takes
that tin horn goof godfrey with him.they
make a good pair tweedle de and twadle
dumb.take your pick.

I actually did notice but I thought the discussion was about making
the post season. Did ya notice they have a wildcard? And that spot is
currently occupied by the Bosox, that's why I used those numbers.

I don't really care about the Yankees. I'd just like to see them play
a meaningful game.
I'd be nice just to get a sniff of a penant race; have something on
the line in mid-September. It's been 15 years since we've been able to
say that.
The good and bad news is that JP can't make any changes. He knows if
they fall short yet again he's toast. He also knows the post season is
a pipe dream and the best thing to do is go younger. But he can't do
that because he would remove the only slim chance they have, so he's
only option is your miracle. See Ya!

well, even in the wildcard race, there are more teams ahead of them than
behind them. Don't forget the flawed manner in which MLB shows the WC
standings. Should the R Sox re-take first place, you're still behind the
Rays. Ditto Twins/W Sox.
