View Full Version : first half in the books
At least they go into the break sweeping the team who had the best
record in the AL. Also, it was nice to see the bullpen pitch a
perfect 5 innings for the win/save.
Hopefully the second half goes better than the first!

Expect LaPorta and Hodges up after the Olympics! Fans need to see a
preview of the future.

i expect the hitting to come around - i suspect that with the lowered
expectations, they'll play looser. but while the bulloen is still an
issue, i don't expect anything miraculous, but maybe enough to cause
some idiots to suggest that the indians shouldn't have traded CC.
no need to rush laporta - the bottom line is that i don't want to see
mgmt bring up laporta primarily for political reasons. i'd like to see
marte, francisco and gutierrez play their way onto or off the team for
good by getting extended playing time.

Don't forget Garko, Asdrubal Cabrera, Barfield, and Hafner.
DH, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, corner OF and the Bullpen are all auditioning.
Peralta may be hitting now, but his awful defense negatively affects
groundball pitchers. I just don't see his defense getting better, and
I don't think his offense justifies him at 3B. He needs to go elsewhere.
I hope they don't rush Carmona, and have a strained hip affect his arm.
Keep Blake next year as a utility player.
Don't rush anyone from the minors. There's enough auditioning at the
ML level (barring more trades) that no extras are needed.

as i said before, anybody who cranks out 30 HRs will have trade value.

not just to keep your boy happy?
seriously, the only reason i can see that would have blake on the
roster next season would be back is if *everybody* tanks for the rest
of the season. you're not going to pay a utility player 5-6 mil a
year.

Maybe so, but where would he play ? 3rd, SS, DH, OF ??
He's at 16 HR, his OBP is barely over .300, BA is .260,
and he leads the team in Ks....As of now his offense is
not that good. His defense is awful.
I'd like to see him traded. He may get real good offensively,
if so, he may be a legit 1B/3B somewhere. I doubt in Cleveland.

Sure, make him happy. Why not ?
He's 2nd in BA, doubles, and RBI, 3rd in HR, as of now.
He plays 3 positions.
But, you are right, he is overpriced as a substitute.
And everyone tanking is probably not gonna happen.
Now there is no pressure, Wedge and his staff will be totally
ignored, and the team will probably play > .500 ball the rest of
the way.

our bullpen is still suspect. kobayashi is probably the defacto
closer, but betancourt still won't pitch inside.
