This crouch is taking away almost all of his power. He is hitting now mainly
with his arms and wrists. Jesse Barfield, former Jays slugger and now CBC
commentator recently said that Rios' crouch was preventing him from from
using his body (waist, hips and legs) in his swing. Other baseball experts
on TV have have made the same analysis.

Contrast Rios' crouch to the straight-up stance of Ken Griffey Jr, A-Rod,
the late
Ted Williams and almost all other great sluggers and you see that hitting
from a crouch is not a good idea. The golf swing is a very good parallel to
a batter's swing in baseball.
When golfers tee-off for distance they stand in an upright position. When
they are making a short distance approach of chip shot--then they often bend
their knees and croach.
