I wanted to sit back for a week and see how this iphone thing plays
out (even though I would probably still buy one tomorrow). I been
looking all over the web and youtube today for some reviews and find
nothing but idiots that wanted to be the first to buy the iphone or
some wannbe journalist offering their dumbass reviews or want to be
thee only person in the world to tell you why it is so popular or
compare it to the old iphone or blackberry.

Anyone get one today? I ipod and ability to surf the web, and the gps
is really all I am interested in so looking past the hype I think it
is worth it to pony up the $300 is not too bad. The Rogers store where
I live now in Aurora has a lot of them left, those people that camped
out downtown and came away with nothing are the opposite of crunk.

Do you understand that you are the only person in the world who thinks
that "crunk" can be spoken without making yourself look like an idiot?
Who the fuck talks like that? God, you're an asshole.

And have a nice day......

Guess this is one of those peasants at the back of the line yesterday
you see on the news that didn't get a iphone.

The problem with the iphone is it's so bulky. If you carry it in your
pocket, then you have to put all your change and keys in your other
pocket since you'd want to avoid scratches. Or you have some kind of
protector, causing the iPhone to be even thicker than before. My
wallet is thinner than an iPhone.

The alternative is you wear it in a holster, but that causes you to
look like a moron.

Yes, you get all those things combined into one device, but at what
cost? My GPS is bulky, but I don't have to carry it around, it's in
my car when I need, otherwise it's at home. Unfortunately for iPhone
users, they have to carry their bulky GPS around everywhere they go,
cuz it's stuck to their cell phone.

My cell phone is half the size of the iPhone and triples as a camera,
mp3 player (bluetooth wireless), and a cellphone.

The only thing iphone has going for it, is that it looks cool kinda
cool.

I agree with most of what you are saying, I still want one. I have a
hp ipaq and actually need to access the web and anyone that has seen
the windows mobile version of Internet Explorer would know how
superior the iphone is when surfing the web. That said my ipaq has GPS
and my care has GPS and I use neither of them. I am guessing like all
other phones the camera is useless and I sure ain't line up with the
300 hundred jabroni's to get a crack at 100 phones the store has. Line
ups aren't crunk I can wait, just called Rogers and ordered one over
the phone and whenever they get them it will be mailed.

Yea, that's the other thing I don't like about the iphone. It's the
touch screen. I need tactile feel when I press buttons. The iphone
is like an extreme on the spectrum of tactile feedback. I'm annoyed
enough at some of the keyboards out there that don't 'click'. Drives
me nuts.

I agree 100% I still a perfer good old fashion Model-M keyboard.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buckling_spring

They keybourd in my office, that I am typing on currently is a unicomp
Model M with buckling spring keys.

I don't even like laptop keyboards, let alone the keyboards in portable
devices. Not a big fan of using the mouse much either, so touch screens
just make me want to throw the thing against the wall. yuck.

As far as mobile phones go, I've never needed anything more than my trusty
1100.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nokia_1100

If I want to code, write, browse the web or email, I just stop at any one
of the gazilion internet cafes in every major city in the world where
internet access is like $2 an hour, and use a real browser on a full size
scree with a real keyboard.

eBay?

Active Surplus on Queen St?

I remember when my friend Henry, who was a Mainframe Operator who was on
on-call support duty had a simular model.

Nice, a little bulky though.

I do recomond the Nokia 1100, fits easily in your pocket and the battery
lasts a really long time, plus it can send text messages, it even has t9,
what else could you possibly need in a mobile phone?

I'm a bit of a hypocrite because despite me hating the iphone I did
still shell out a bit for my motorola rokr phone. But it's definitely
got some deficiencies. The fancier the phone, the worse it is on
battery and mine is no exception. I have to charge it every 3 days,
compared to doing it about once every 2 weeks with my first phone
(similar to yours).

It wouldn't be work on the digital networks out there. Back in 1991 I
saw that at The Wiz in New Jersey for $299 and I wanted it bad and was
thinking "...finally cell phones are going to be available to
everyone..." The montly plan was $29.99 for 30 minutes.
