oh oh

The “Boston Globe” reported that the Boston Celtics brought in veteran free
agent Darius Miles and that Miles had what is being labeled as an impressive
workout. If Miles is healthy and can play for Boston or any other team that
would not be good news for the Portland Trail Blazers or their General
Manager Kevin Pritchard.

Here is one for ya.
Miles is on a disabled retirement, so waived and currently off the cap.
Sounded like his knee is pretty bad from the league doctor's report, has
holes in it that did not fill in with the MF surgery.
Contract had 2 more years.
He apparrently, from the the length of the suspendion of 10 games, tested
positive for steroids.
So....Does a free agent that the league has declared disabled get to keep
all his pay if he is not playing actual games?
Or if he plays would he only lose the salary from the new team? Or will he
lose the 10 games worth of pay even if he does not play?
If he would lose 1Mil if he plays, but get paid in full for not playing,
that helps keep him from trying to make a comeback and putting his amount
back on the blazers cap...plus makes him even less likely to get a chance to
play.
Which would screw up the cap space planned for next summer.
