What the heck. They brought up Slocum and he has a great era of 54.00.
What more do you want of a reliever. Byrd has to be one of the best
starters around with a 3-10 and 5.53 era. They pinch hit Marte for Garko in
the ninth and Garko was 1-3 and slugger Marte (who should be playing little
league) flew out with a .125 ba. Marte must be taking care of Shapiro is
all I can say.

They need to see if Slocum has MLB level talent.
Same with Marte, he should play every day at 3rd.
The 2008 season is over for this team.
The 2009 pre-season started today.

Predict Sabathia will go quick! To a National League team, No way the
Yanks or any team in the Central A.L. get him.

As an Indians fan (from growing up in Brecksville) now living in my adopted
hometown of Chicago, I'd /love/ to see him come to the Cubs. Their
sometimes-suspect starting rotation could use some fortification.
I wonder....

Why would they play him at third. He couldn't play when he was at Buffalo.

It's too bad he's on the block. He is one of the best in baseball.

To see if he's worth the roster spot the "Powers that Be" gave him.

Umm....Why disrespect / slam wolfagain?
His post wasn't offensive to Cubs fans..
He posts here often, and is respectful
of other posters and teams.
His prediction is probably right on the mark.

Not sure to whom you're speaking here, Steve-O. Perhaps there was a third-party
poster whose line(s) I missed?
The line which begins "Predict Sabathia..." was written by "wolfagain" (wasn't
it?) to which I responded that my wish would be that if C. C. was released, that
he go to the Cubs, my "adopted" /favorite/ team.
I did not catch /any/ form of disrespect to Cubs fans, even implicitly. Did I
miss something or mangle my meaning? (What a wretched curse to be a
meaning-mangler of prose!)
And, I agree with his assessment that, if he is traded, he will - hopefully - go
to a National League team 'cause I sure as heck wouldn't want him facing the
Tribe (although I suppose they couldn't get too much worse than they already
are, <cough>).
<P.S. For grins, I watched "Major League" for the first time in ages yesterday.
Forgot what a guilty pleasure it is. I have a professional acquaintance in it
who appears in the cafe and bleacher scenes as one of the drum-beating,
warpaint-wearing fans, Bill Leff, former stand-up comic and radio personality on
WLS 890AM on the Roe Conn show. >
