This post is the equivalent of a visit from a friend who just gave
away everything in an extraordinarily messy divorce, who comes over to
your house unannounced because he wants friendly companionship, only
to do nothing but stare out the window and sip whisky because he's too
emotionally shattered to make small talk.

Cheers,
Chris Hafner

It's a raw deal, Chris.

If you don't mind a rebound relationship, though, the Bulls got a lot
hotter this summer. Hopefully, they'll put out. :-)

That's if Derrick Rose doesn't injure himself in a car wreck.
Why don't rent these guys a racetrack somewhere so can get that
out of their system?

Would it help if I told you I never really liked your ex? That she got
fat a few years back and you can do better?

The Sonics won't even be the Sonics in a few years -- they'll be the
Okies or the Cow Tippers or the Rodeo Clowns or some such nonsense.
When that happens, we'll be here for you. Me, Jerry Reinsdorf, Larry
Hughes, JamesOn Curry -- all of us.

At least Seattle retains the name and colours... But I suspect this is small
consolation to Chris and other Sonics fans right now.

I'm stupid. My wife is from Vancouver and ever year when we go back, we'd
always planned on going down to Seattle to catch a Sonics game or two. "Oh
well, we can go next year..." Hm.

Anyway, sorry Chris. I don't have much else to say, other than the Sonics
were my second favorite team before the Raptors arrived on the scene and my
first NBA jersey was a Gary Payton.

I can speak to this Chris. I am a Raider fan from the Bay Area for 35
years. My team one day packed up and moved to L.A. Given the rivalry
between LA and the Bay Area, you can imagine it was pretty bad. There
were two contingents here. The fans who drove 400 miles to go see
games for the 15 or so years the Raiders were there, and the ones who
turned their back and became 49ers fans. Of course not EVERYONE fell
into those two groups, but probably upwards of 80% could be
characterized as such. I was in the former group, but in fairness I
went to college at UCLA right around that time so it worked out that I
got to see a lot of Raider football in the Coliseum.

I think what works best at this point is to take a step back and re-
evaluate what it was that originally drew you to the team. Do you
like their style. Do you like ownership (the constant). Do you
identify with how they work. Personally, I still liked Al Davis at
the time and how the Raiders carried themselves and played. (MUCH
different than how it is now. They were feared back then.) Think of
this as an opportunity to reconnect with your team, or to subscribe to
the fan base of another. NOBODY can ever accuse YOU of being a
bandwagon fan. The team left you. You didn't leave THEM. Now the
choice is yours.

One word of caution. Unless you like your heart being ripped out, I
advise against jumping on board with Golden State, though we'd love to
have another delusional fan.

Hang in there,

Rizzo

of Okies..

Well I was thinking Bobby Hurley. Then I saw today's stats.

And... I thought the same...

The silver lining is that your ex will have to live in Oklahoma, a
place with no history of professional major league sports aside from the
college football team.

I don't need them to be close to the finals, I'll take Seattle having a team
by 2012.

:-) We're not out there nearly enough (at least not yet - unless my wife
has her way and we pick up and move out West), but it's a great idea
nonetheless.

At least I'm not old enough to have said Alvin Attles or Tom
Meschery.... I still have a little tread on my tires.
