The Clips need guards. Mobley is decomposing, Livingston is being
fitted for a prosthetic, and many project first rounder Eric Gordon as
a shortish shooting guard.

Brand for Hinrich and Gooden works well for both teams. Clips get a
combo guard who can initiate the offense and guard the taller shooting
guards that will give Gordon trouble. They also get an expiring
contract whose minutes they can slowly ratchett down as that young
hoss they drafted out of Florida State steps up.

The Bulls get the all-star low-post presence they've been searching
for since, well, they traded Brand away all those years ago. This
lineup:
Rose / Hughes
Gordon / Sefolosha
Deng / Nocioni
Brand / Thomas
Noah / Gray
gives Thomas a chance to grow into an NBA player and minimizes
Hughes's minutes. It's a contender in the East, and the favorite in a
couple of years when Boston has aged and Rose matured

Um, never mind. It looks like the Clips just signed Baron Davis. Take
it easy Rizzo. I guess the Warriors are looking for a PG. Hinrich
isn't really Nellie's kind of player, and I'm not sure who the Bulls
would want except for Monte Ellis, and I doubt the Warriors are
looking to trade him.
