The Bulls have decided to move radio voice Neil Funk to handle the
call on television. Former WGN-Ch. 9 sports personality Chuck Swirsky
will return to town to call play-by-play on radio. Currently, Swirsky
holds a similar post for the Toronto Raptors.

Confirmed on Chuck's Fan590 show:

-stated that it is for family reasons
-feels that he is a Raptor for life
-tough decision for him and his family
-is leaving money on the table for the move
-private considerations influenced this decision
-will host his show on the Fan for "the foreseeable future"
-hopes that everyone involved will 'respect the privacy of his actions"

Good for him.

Radio is where he belongs, nothing beats the days of Chuck and Jack on
FAN590.

Ladies and Gentleman, welcome Rod Black to MLSE!

Wow. He will be very tough to replace as a play-by-play announcer.
Chuck & Jack were the best broadcast team the Raps ever had.

That being said, I was getting a little tired of Chuck's schtick.
Hopefully they don't skimp on a replacement.

Chuck will be impossible to replace. His schtick was very original and i
enjoyed it.
Sure Swirsky wasnt perfect, but nobody they bring in will be perfect either.
Nobody can question Chuck's love of the sport.

Wouldnt it be nice if they brought in Dan Shulman.

Seriously if Rod Black joins, I will have to permanently mute my
television for all Raptors games. I may have to just stop being a
Raptors fan altogether.

One comment I read was that they loved the fact that he referred to
players' testicles as onions, and the fact that he was able to say
"ONIONS, BABY, ONIONS!" on the air without getting into any kind of
trouble was truly one of those things that we will miss.

I don't know about you, but if I had the choice to stay as ESPN's NBA man
or the Raptors NBA man, I'd stick with ESPN

Rant time. What about those two bananaheads on the Fan590 radiocrew
now: Jonesey the TJ jocker, eg. When Jose gets beat, Jonesey never
overlooks it and makes a point of mentioning it--"he walks right
around Calderon!"; but I note TJ gets a free pass on his many MANY
BONEHEADED bad shots/decisions. Also Jonesey never mentions TJ's
negative body language that absolutely kills the team! Never says a
word about it. When Jose comes in he picks everybody up with the
positive energy he exudes, but TJ doesn't have that in him. Forget
the team, it's all about TJ.

Somebody in authority who cares about the Raptors needs to get these
idiots--that includes Eric "Cookie-boy" Smith-- replaced before next
year. Really. Sorry but these two aren't NBA calibre. We need a
professional radio crew calling Raptors games. Chuck was really
getting old too with this Onions baby, and salami & cheese bullshit. I
mean c'mon, can we get some professionals in here?

They should bring back John Saunders. An objective voice is badly
needed - we have enough Salami, Cheese, Onions, Guacamole to last us a
few years.

3 days ago, I would have said similar, replacing ESPN with Raptors, and
Raptors with Chicago's radio
