View Full Version : Already sick of Lakers vs. Celtics
Lord Vader III 06-02-2008, 01:49 PM Maybe its me but I don't ever remember so much hype for a championship
series. It seems like Sportscenter has 5 or 6 Lakers / Celtics
segments on per hour. If this thing goes all 7 games, its going to be
a very long 2 1/2 weeks. :(

Really? The best basketball player in the world alongside a couple of
semi-stars and a few good role players taking on the biggest three put
together since Michael, Scottie and Dennis? I think it'll be a great series
to be honest. With Kobe at the helm I don't think the Lakers can lose, but
Allen's started hitting shots so I think the Celts will put up a show.
TBH I think it rests on Garnett. IMO Kobe will win it. Doesn't matter if
Fisher or Vlad or Lamar or Pau bail on the series - Kobe will pull through.
Garnett, one of the league's best, most dominant players, has not shown that
same fortitude. Pierce delivered game seven against the Cavs for them, and
though KG was BIG through the Spurs series, I'm not sure that he stood up at
any point and said "my team" or "my conference". Which is sad, because I
thought that he had it in him.
The good thing, to me, about this series, is that I doubt I'll be
disappointed. Either Kobe will do his best-in-the-world thing as we all
expect, or KG or Pierce will stand up and say, "Ah, sorry, no, that's me"
which would be an amazing revelation.
As a basketball fan, how do you lose?

I didn't say I wasn't looking forward to the series. I'm just tired
of Sportscenter running a Lakers / Celtics story every 10 minutes.

I apologise then. I'm in Australia though, and I'd give a limb for five
minutes of hype here :)

At least it interrupts their Yankees / Red Sox stories.
