Not me, but I like it. DC is an upgrade, and I figure we'd downgrade after
Skiles.

Pros: Good player. Experience as coach. Old enough to be tough, young
enough to relate. Eually concerned with offense and defense.

Con: Lacks Olympic gold medal.

i love collins as a commentator. the only guy i like better is hubie.
as a coach, i don't like the pick. i think he's too ultra-competitive
(like jordan) and takes the losses too hard when he's personally
involved. he seems to wear out his welcome relatively quick.

plus, what's weird is that phx was interested in him and he turned
that down, saying he wasn't interested in coaching anymore. i would
think phx would be a better gig than chicago as far as being closer to
a title. i wonder what changed his mind. are we offering that much
more money?? this team has a lot of critical decision as who they
should keep and who they should (or more importantly, can) ditch.

With the wraps that Rose and Beasley are getting, I'd be surprised if the
number one pick isn't a huge factor. Maybe since we've got it I'm looking at
them through rose-tinted (ahem) glasses, but with all this talk of "Kidd
with a jumper"/"the next Paul or Deron" going around, I'd jump at the chance
to coach the Bulls over the Suns.

With a bit of roster rejigging I really think we're a playoff team next
season, and can maybe even go deep.

Phoenix is a better team today but are they really closer to a title,
especially being in the West?

They have Shaq as a problem and Nash isn't getting any younger. Plus they
don't play defense, and don't have defensive oriented players, which would
drive Collins crazy.

The Bulls need to make changes - but, with the first pick in the draft, they
have opportunities to do so - if everyone is tradeable (altho I wouldn't
trade the first pick, and Hughes probably won't be tradeable), and there is
at least some value to most of the players, this team could be remade fairly
quickly.

Not to say Collins is the right choice - altho I'm not sure the "Right
Choice" (or even a better chocie) is out there this year - I fear his crazed
competitiveness and emphasis on the slow-down half-court (big man oriented?)
offense.

But his teams have shown first-year improvement everywhere he's gone - and if
he's not the "A to B to C" guy, he's proabably "A to B" - and then they can
hire Jackson again.
