Closing the upper deck had nothing to do with this week's attendance.

What we're seeing is dispirited, unmotivated Yankee fans deciding for the
first time in many years not to bother coming to watch a mediocre Yankee
team play in Oakland.

The A's fans bought tickets as usual. It's the Yankee fans that didn't
come.

As an A's fan, I am glad that 8,000 fair-weather Yankee fans aren't coming
for this series.

And this, I can agree with you. But where are the A's fans here? I think a
lot of people don't know much about usenet these days.
