View Full Version : only because it's slow in here
barry 06-16-2008, 09:56 PM why not sign kenny lofton (assuming he'll take the vet minimum
pro-rated) to replace hafner on the DL and move sizemore to the #3
slot?
1) i think that the indians would benefit from kenny's swagger in the
clubhoise - he clearly added a spark to the lineup last season.
2) another left handed bat would help wedge set the batting lineup -
all of our infielders (incl. the catchers now that martinez is on the
DL) hit right handed - and for the league minimum i'd rather see
lofton over dellucci as the DH.

I like Sizemore at #3 more than #1.
Shoo should be #1, IMHO.....Too often
slower runners slow down Shoo...
As far as Lofton, nah....Too little, too late.
Play Marte every day. Evaluate the AAA/AA talent
the Tribe thinks it has.
I know they're only 6.5 games out, but this team shows
zero potential wrt having the ability to win the ALCD and
succeed in the postseason. Too many problems at too
many positions.
I'd trade CC ASAP.

Sorry, but it's over. Almost every player is playing BELOW
expectations, the only exceptions are Lee, Francisco, and maybe Garko.
C.C. is gone for next year. Shapiro must get the best deal he can
before the trade deadline. Period!

i think shapiro will take one last shot in july *IF* he thinks the
indians have no shot and approach CC and say "sign or we trade you to
the highest bidder". if CC really wants the money, so be it.
i've probably mentioned this before, but jason michaels is hitting
..300 with 3 HR & 20 RBI since leaving cleveland. everything else being
equal, i'd think that something is wrong in cleveland and it's not the
players. sheldon ocker of the ABJ has noted that the team seems tight
and there's no one on the roster who has the personality to influence
that in a positive way.

rumors have it that CC is on the block. Free agents Byrd, Blake, Borowski.
If Blake goes, they won't have a 3B bat.
hank kimball 06-21-2008, 03:46 PM The reason Kenny is not playing anywhere is he will only play in
center field. Tampa wanted to sign him for right but he turned it
down. Since we have Sizemore in center we don't need him.

he played LF for us last year.
but the offense isn't the biggest problem IMO - it's the bullpen. i
was ready to bust a gut at dodger stadium last night watching them
waste a great performance by cliff lee. thank god they're on TV this
afternoon since it is HOT out here - something like 110 in the valley
yesterday.
i can't count them exactly, but i can think of at least 3 games we
lost due to the bullpen imploding. if it's closer to 6-7, then we're
conpeting with the WS instead of being 7 or so games back - even with
the diminshed offense, because our starting pitching has been
relatively decent even with the loss of westbrook.
i still don't think it's mechanics as much as the whole team's
attitude/demeanor/affect, as steve o. has mentioned in the past, is
pretty flat.
cc just gave up a HR to tie the game. crap.
