View Full Version : Barg's stats for the series

Aw, forget it. Y'all know how much I hate him. I was going to post his
numbers to illustrate how bad he is, but you all saw it. Posting the
numbers is like rubbing salt into the wound.

Yeah, we're going to send him to a bunch of camps this summer and he's
going to come back knowing how to play in the NBA. And pigs will fly.

Ah, that vaunted Toronto positivity. Seriously, lay off the man. He's
what, 21? He's no genetic freak like Howard. He's a smooth shooting,
quick-footed lanky foreigner who EVERYONE in the league - scouts,
coaches, other players - thinks will be a major star. He played shit a
lot this season. He also played out of position for his body type. Let's
see how he does in October before we say he won't get any better, mmm kay?

Hee! You gotta be kidding me. The farking asshole got to the free throw
line ONCE in a five game series.

Do you want to talk about his other stats? Go ahead, choose a category.
I'm ready to discuss.

I sure hope those scouts think he will be a major star. That would help
us get him the fuck out of here.

There's no way the Raptors advance with Bargnani on the roster. He's a
dead spot in the rotation.

It's hard to put up good numbers in this ball game if you never see the
ball (you know, it's called basket *ball* for a good reason).

Lovely. Which Toronto media personality gave you your opinion?

At no point did I say Bargnani had a good season. He sucked in the
playoffs, mostly. But he has the skills to excel in this league, as the
people who are PAID to know these things will tell you. Whether he live
up to the potential or not, we won't know fully for a while. 21-22 year
old phenoms do not grow on trees. When he's 25 or 26, if he's still
doing this, then he will be a bust. I don't think Toronto can wait that
long, but the team that can will be laughing in our face. See: McGrady,
Tracy and Billups, Chauncey.

Not to mention Camby, Marcus.

And that's the short list from Toronto's history. League wide you
can name many more guys who where ~22 old slumping sophomores or
worse, and went on to have solid careers, especially big men.

See above.

Bargnani will never do anything in this league. Not for the Raptors, and
not for any team foolish enough to trade for him. He is a certified
stiff.

Andrea Bargnani can go join that list, as far as I'm concerned. I
couldn't care less what Marcus Camby did for other teams, what did he do
for Toronto? Bargnani has done nothing for the Raptors, so let him go
elsewhere and let us fill his roster spot with someone who can play this
game.

You sound overly bitter to me.. as if Bargnani has screwed us over for
not playing well. It's not as if we lost this series because of him.
I get that you're unhappy with Bargs, but if you're conceding that he
has the potential to be great, and you'd rather have him become that
great player elsewhere like like Camby, Billups and McGrady before
him, that doesn't really make a whole lot of sense!

If you feel like you've been screwed, just wait til he goes elsewhere,
now that will really be a screwing of epic proportions, not overly
different from when Milwaukee traded Dirk Nowitzki!

Fair enough, that's your opinion. It's my opinion that Chris Bosh either
needs to be traded or made into the number 2 guy on the team. BC has
gone on record as saying that he's looking for a 20ppg scorer. He has
Ford and Rasho as trading pieces, total salary around 16 million. I'd
also like to see him make a run at Reggie Evans. I like Reggie Evans.

I don't know about that. It's the guy that is keeping Philly in the
series and has had 0 point-20 board games on more than one occasion.

hmmm...the coach went a full month in mid season refusing to say a word to
the guy.
That certainly helped the cause!
I recall so many similar negative comments when T-Mac was in Toronto and as
soon as he got traded he was immediately a star on another team.
If Barg's ends up playing for another team, it will probably end up a
similar end.

I personally feel that Sam is not a particularly capable coach, who stays
with his favourites despite how they play while stating that players have to
earn their playing time. His ridiculous plays called after time-outs are
laughable more ofter than not and I don't see how most of the players on the
roster could respect him much.

Get a decent coach before writing Barg's off.

The negative comments about Tmac came early in his tenure, with some
help from coach Walker. By the time Tmac was in his final year, nobody
was talking bad about him, everyone knew he was going to be a star.

You go on to mention the link between player and coach and suggest a
different coach could get more out of Bargnani, in the way Butch Carter
got more out of Tmac. It's an interesting point, but we are gonna have
another year of Sam & Bargs for sure.

Chris, if we had Reggie Evans, when would he ever play?

It can't go both ways. If you're a supporter of Andrea Bargnani, then
if we got a Reggie Evans he would be getting --at most-- Kris
Humphries minutes which are minimal.

You must have missed the numerous parts where I said to trade Bosh.
However, I would rather Bargs at the 3.

Oh I understand now.

You'd rather have a lineup of:
C: Rasho
PF: Reggie Evans
SF: Bargnani
SG: Parker
PG: Forderon

Than what we have now. Because THEN we'd be better. Yea, that makes
sense.
This lineup would be the worst starting lineup in the NBA. I'm not
sure this team can beat D-Leagues teams.

You've lost your marbles man.

Bargs would never be able to defend a 3 if his life depended on it.
Find me the worst starting SF in the league, and I'll show you someone
Bargs can't guard. He's a 4 or 5, that's all there is to it.

And that would make him different from the rest of the team...how?

It's time to face facts: barring a trade of 6 or 7 people, the Raptors
are never going to be a defensive lockdown machine. We have maybe 2 or 3
people who are even passable defenders. Trying to fix that with one or
two moves in the offseason would be like trying to put a band aid on the
hull of the Titanic. Might as well go the other way and shore up
rebounding, and go nuts with scoring. Putting Bargs at the 3 would
actually help his post game, would minimize his damage to the boards,
and gives most teams headaches. He has all summer to work on whatever:
it's easier to learn body positioning to defend the slash on the
perimeter than it is to bulk up and learn how to control a bigger,
stronger body.

Who would you trade in for Bosh?

What's your ideal team? You mentioned "lockdown defense" in another
post. I can think of just 2-3 teams in the league with this ability,
and none of them pulled off a sweep in the first round of the
playoffs.

C'mon man, Bargs will never, ever play at 3.

You didn't watch game 1, did you?

What would I trade for Bosh? excellent question. Ideally, I'd do Bosh
and Rasho for Marion, Miami's pick and filler. Miami gets a scorer to
play behind Wade and an expiring. We get a young stud and a proven
multi-facet player who has never been given the chance to lead a team.
It won't happen though.

Yeah, I did. Wasn't that the game where they wiped the floor with us?

There was no game where they wiped the floor with us. It was the game
where we lost the first quarter so badly that even winning the last 3
were no good.

The entire thread can be summed up thus:

Bargnani played badly. He was started at the 3 in game 1, a position he
had not played all year, and asked to guard a player who has more
playoff experience than anyone on either team. He never recovered. His
rebounding was invisible, his shooting was mostly poor, and he looked lost.

BUT he is not the star of the team, he is young, and he was played in
weird ways. To pin the loss on him would be unreasonable.

Even when he started to shoot well, e.g hit 2 shots in a row, he would
not see the ball again for a while, giving him no chance to establish a
rhythm. This complaint is one I've had about the team all year, so I
should not be surprised. Point is, though, that when he started to
catch, he wasn't given the chance to see how on fire he was. Delfino is
a major reason for that, but Ford needs to shoulder a lot of that blame too.

Bosh for Marion?

I'm almost afraid to ask, but Marion? MARION?! Why? Because of his
amazing winning attitude? Because he'd rather play for the worst team
in the league and get recognition, than play in the playoffs and have
a shot at a championship?

Please think about this again, and tell me who you would REALLY trade
Bosh for.
