All in all I think the Saint's have had an excellent offseason and a
pretty good draft. We got a DT without giving up too much for him.
Next we got a corner that we desparetley needed who excells at picks,
something the Saint's have needed to improve at dramatically for years.
Another DT doesn't hurt and will be a competitor this year and may pan
out in the long run. We lost at least one game due to kicking last year
so drafting a kicker isn't a bad idea.
We brought in linebackers and another corner and a DE that may all
bust or may help. If Vilma can be healthy then he WILL be a boon in an
are that needs help bad. I'll take the few good games we will get out
of Morgan before he can't play any more. I hope this corner is better
than David as I have watched David play out of position WAAAYYYYYY
TOOOOO often even on the plays he doesn't get burned on.
If MM can come back about Mid year this could be one hot year. We
need to use Colston before he get's pissed off that the Saint's won't
show him the green and leaves. What the Saint's are paying their
starting WR is criminal and I don't give a shit about the contract. If
both sides agree they can change a contract and I can't see Colston
saying that he doesn't want the money.
I hate to admit it but I'm almost as wired up for the season as I
was last year. Even worse I think the Saint's can compete as
contenders. Last year was a reality check, but take away the loss from
kicking and the FUMBLE by Reggie Bush on the reverse (there was nothing
wrong with the play call!!!) and the 9-7 or 10 - 6 Saint's would have
been in the playoffs. Probably would have died in round one because of
their defense, but in the playoffs. I'm stoked and now can't stand the
next three months waiting.

PS. About the "play call". If it had been fourth down the call would
have been stupid. As it was, once the play was busted Reggie should
have ate the loss and the game would have gone on with the clock still
ticking and a loss of five (big deal). It was the players on the field
who tried to make something out of a busted play while trying to run out
the clock with a lead. THAT is NOT the coaches fault unless you want to
fault him for not explaining that to them before the play (they are
professionals so that should not be nessesary). The turnover was caused
by the players failure to recognize a broken play and the players
failure to recognize that a five yard loss wouldn't mean much, and it
was the players who botched the exchange when they saw everything going
wrong. If the opposing D hadn't played it so well and the ball exchange
had been successful it would have been a first down.

It was the timing of the call.
You dont call a play like that when your trying to run the clock out.
