I live in Baton Rouge and know GD pretty well (not personally, but via
intense local media coverage of LSU).

GD is a great guy and player. BUT, he has two strikes against him:

1) he suffered a BAD leg injury versus Auburn last year.

2) the Rams are a BLACK HOLE for defensive line talent. We draft
highly-rated DLs (anyone remember Jimmy Kennedy?) and they put on the
Rams uniform and .. suck.

I'd take that Ryan QB. Bulger is past his prime.

They must have heard you. From usatoday

Pick No. 2: St. Louis Rams select Chris Long, DE, Virginia

Pro analysis: The Rams opt for the safe pick at No. 2, tabbing Long instead
of LSU DT Glenn Dorsey, who has more upside but also more injury question
marks. Long will immediately start at one defensive end spot opposite
Leondard Little, who is 33 and coming off a one-sack, injury-truncated
season. St. Louis should have a potentially strong defensive front next year
with Long, Little and defensive tackle Adam Carriker, the team?s 2007
first-round selection. If the offense can stay healthy in 2008, the Rams
could immediately find themselves back in the playoff hunt.

College analysis: Long more than stepped out of the shadow of his Hall of
Fame father Howie Long during his Virginia career. He plays with maximum
effort on every down and made an impact despite facing double teams through
his final year. Long had 14 sacks and 79 total tackles and should fit nicely
into the Rams defense as a pass-rush option.
