Well, in that case. It is like watching your team move to Oklahoma, but they
arent. They are still in your city to be laughed at. ;-(

Dallas will be dismantled after this season! Dirk and Jason will be
the only one left.

That's not going to make them any better. As long as Dirk is the
leader, they will always be soft.

Pau is also soft and I like the Lakers chances. So maybe Dirk needs to be
on a team with a guy like Charles Oakley.

There once was a man from Dallas,
(Something) a mouth (something) phallus,
He's quite a lamenter
About his team that plays in American Airlines Center
And Detroit gets to play in a Palace!
My team! Those overpaid
Under-performing
"Mavelous"
Careless losers.
It's like watching an unattended rust--proof Corvette rust and fall
apart
It's like dropping a box of expensive cigars and watching them grow
moldy (Cubans, anyone?)
It's like driving a semi through the soft gooey German marshmallow
center of Hope
It's like handling a Hornet's nest with kidd gloves: you get stung
It's like all that was playoff-solid turns on ya and melts into air
And all ya got left is Dampier's hair.
What's solace is this:
You can read minds...
You can't miss!
And you were right all along:
It was an attempt without heart,
Your Corvette falls apart
(Except all those times when you're wrong.)

Pau happens to play with this guy...you may have heard his name once
before....ummm, Kobe Bean Bryant. Yeah, pretty big difference between
playing alongside Kobe and playing next to Josh Howard.

Body panels, no. The rest of the car, a very emphatic yes.

Pau is only semi-soft. He actually posts-up, getting the best position
afforded to him. Dirk on the other hand consistently settles for jump
shots. I'll take a 7ft post-up player over a 7ft jump shooter in a
playoff series any time of the day.
So maybe Dirk needs to be
> on a team with a guy like Charles Oakley.
I think Dirk's stats we be used more effectively if he was playing 2nd
fiddle. He's really not a 1st tier superstar.

Xactly. If Dirk was 2nd fiddle to Kobe, there'd be no complaints. But
Dirk is paid to be THE guy in Dallas, and I'm arguing that he can't play
at that level mentally.
Besides, I'd much rather have Pau, who actually is a real bonna-fide
post player.

Cant you find toughness elsehwere? Does it have to come from one player at
one specific position?

Which is exactly why Dirk does not necessarily have to be this tough street
type player. He is talented. He just needs some other talent around him.

I have to really disagree with that. Dirk is a finesse player, no doubt.
However, just because he does not thug it up does not mean he is not a 1st
teir superstar. It's all about building around a franchise player.
I have always said that Dallas's biggest problem was getting rid of strong
hearted players like Raja Bell to make up for the rough-it tough-it that
Dirk lacks. Tim Duncan, Dirk, Gasol, are not players with big attitudes, but
if you supply them with the right players, then they make a solid team.

....and promptly refused to use his size advantage against the Warriors,
losing Dallas the series.
Besides, not many think Dirk deserved that MVP. If that not a sign what
a joke that award is now, I don't know what is. Did Alex English win a
MVP award? Puhlease!

Well, I don't believe either Gasol or Dirk are first tier superstars.
Duncan on the other hand is in a whole different class. He makes his
teammates better and more importantly, he brings it on D every night.
He's the cornerstone of San Antonio's success and he won with several
different casts of players.
