View Full Version : Mavs not deserving of playoffs?
Don't Taze Me, Bro! 04-20-2008, 02:24 AM As a Mavs fan I have to say that so far I am convinced they do not deserve
to be in the playoffs.
I am watching veteran players make mistakes by not knowing where the clock
is at, turning over the ball easily, not taking it to the basket, no
hustle...
This team has the physical capability but they have not had heart all year.
They have gotten better with Jason Kidd, but I am convinced that he has
walked into a lockerroom full of players who could care less!

How so? It seems pretty matter of fact to me. They are playing like a mostly
freshman ncaa team on a team who kows they have no chance.

Do not be silly. Of course they care. No one not competitive by nature even
makes this league.

That's naive. If you think teams do not often play like they do not care,
then you have lost the plot. Teams play like they do not care all of the
time... and suddenly they start playing with heart and you can see the
change. Then there are those teams that are playing amazingly and then
become too finesse and start losing important games as they get bored with
their style of play.

Hey some teams quit. But I do not think the mavs have. You want to bring up
the 2001 blazers and they were more than glad to all go home.
On the other hand mr. tazed team was up 3-0 on the 2003 blazers and some
fans figured they had quit. 'Sheed said not... and it took the mavs until
the last couple of minutes in the 4th quarter of game 7 to beat them.

I was referring to an erstwhile Laker... one who started quite a few games

I don't know how one falls into the "My guys really don't care" trap.
Is that REALLY your line on human nature? If so, misguided combined
with cynical, man. And just plain inaccurate.
I vividly remember sitting through the Memorial Day Massacre, and
never once did I believe the Lakers didn't "care."
In fact, I've never seen the Lakers play like shit and diagnose
anything like general nihilism; rather, some teams play scared and
tentative, some teams are over-practiced or tired, they're overcoached
or the game plan is bad, a couple guys have really bad shooting
nights...all kinds of "human" reasons. Sometimes one or two guys on
the opposition step up and play out of their minds. Give 'em props and
don't assume your guys are ready to go golfing.
A bad Game 1 and you say your guys don't care. Hoo-kay...

If you play Eddie Jones and Juwan Howard together for almost 4 minutes you
don't deserve to keep your designation as NBA franchise.

Eddy Curry, Tim Thomas, Jerome James (okay, the entire Knicks roster except

What you say is true in a general sense but there have always been guys who
just don't give a shit. Indeed, the Mavs have one now in Magliore.

Getting to the NBA and being at then that level does not mean they were not
compeitive.
That NY culture has been trained into them the last several years.
Expecting losing on a bad team is one thing. The Mavs do not have that
culture.

True and those are most often because they got into the game because they
were big.
The guards were usually gym rats and had the will to win is the will to
train road to the NBA.
Certainly not true of Dirk who wanted that game a lot.

There is always the one guy who really wants it. However, the drive to win
is not with every team. This Mavericks team should have in no way finished
in the position they finished and should not be playing with as little drive
as they are playing with. This is the second year they have started the
playoffs against a young team with what looks to be very little desire.
This is just as much of a talented team that made it with-in inches of
winning it all.

Your self congragulatory attitude and semantical dance is silly at best.
Facts are, some teams "don't care." If you wan't to say " oh, but they do
care, they just care on different levels..." then you are just wasting room

Snipping the legit point instead of answering it and trying a personal

Your suggestion is that every team cares... That's semantical.

As opposed to Kobe words in the same statement writen by laywers not kobe

had to throw out the case....
At the start of that thread you just flat declared he was a rapist as fact.

LOL Yeah, must be.
Look, your participation in this thread, like the one about Kobe,
illustrates your lack of ability to carry on a reasoned and
intelligent discussion or to admit you're wrong. And, in this thread,
like the one about Kobe, I disagree with you. It's as simple as that.

Actually, I believe I covered their last year first round dismisal, this
entire season, and this one game as proof that they don't have the heart it
takes. All the while, you appealed to logical fallacies because you did not
like my view on Kobe.
The ability to crosspost is available for a reason. It is often misused, but
most of the basketball posting regulars have not been against it unless it
was convenient (such as in your case). I have crossposted numerous
basketball stories, jokes, and simple basketball banter.
Examples:
"Final's Preditions" on 4/7/2008
"Dirk Says Kobe Is MVP" 3/29/2008
Just to name a couple!
Stop your self congratulations, logical fallacies, impetuous behavior, and
semantical rhetoric. You jumped on my ass and made a non-issue about all
teams having the desire to win all because my views on Kobe. I could have
said the sky is blue and you would have said "not exactly." Just another
impetuous and retarded twat.

You and your boyfriend have demonstrated that you are both totally
clueless as to what the point is. Seriously.
