Florida Marlins minor-league infielder Rex Rundgren is younger than a
lot of his famous father's songs.

Rundgren's dad is Todd Rundgren, whose 1970s hits included "Hello It's
Me," "I Saw The Light" and "Can We Still Be Friends?"

Rex Rundgren said he's not musical and instead developed an early
interest in sports.

"When I was younger my dad would always go on the road, and he didn't
want me to go on the road with him and miss school," Rundgren said. "I
had to do something to keep busy, and it was sports I got into. I fell
in love with baseball and never stopped."

Rundgren, 27, batted .208 last year for Double-A Carolina. He's in the
Marlins spring training camp.

"I know I don't have a chance to make the team," he said. "I'm trying
to give them a good impression so they remember my name in case
anything comes up."

Rundgren said his dad comes to his games when he's not touring. The
younger Rundgren said he likes all kinds of music except country.

His favorite songs by his father include "Black Maria" and "Black and
White."

"When I was younger I didn't have the respect for music that I do
now," Rundgren said. "I didn't really understand. Now that I
understand it and everything he has done, I look up to him as much as
I do anybody in baseball. I respect everything he has done, and I'm
proud."
