View Full Version : Re: The NBA making up rules as it goes

Aparently, they won't let Stackhouse sit out 30 days and get resigned
despite the fact that it was the rule the league implemented. So basically,
the NBA makes a rule and if someone wants to use that rule to their
advantage and they don't like it, then they make the rule harder.

And they enforce a rule to make injured players play in a meaningless
match?
Anything to hamper the Lakers I guess.

Stern is a dipshit....
Old_Golden_Throat 02-16-2008, 12:54 AM The NBA is just enforcing rules fairly and evenly. The league and
David Stern wants to do things to harm the Lakers? I'm quite sure
they prefer the opposite. They want the Lakers to win, trust me.
Do you think Stern wanted the Spurs of low TV ratings to win instead
of the Suns last year?
As for Stackhouse, it's his own fault for opening his mouth. Same
thing 10 years ago when Mourning opened his when Pat Riley tried to
sign Juwan Howard. It actually turned out to be a blessing for Miami
that the league stepped in and disallowed the Howard contract. I
think this will end up a blessing for Dallas also.

Why is it his fault? The NBA set the rules to "30 days." Now they want to
make the basket higher, so to speak. So why is it Stackhouses fault? I think
the players union should get involved and tell the NBA that they either make
their rules concrete for the year or that their will be a strike.

Because he and the Mavs can not make deals past his existing contract or the
trade.
He can say if this happens I would love to return to the Mavs...indicating
it is a done deal shows tampering.
Everyone knows it is a wink deal, if you want the league to ignore it leave
it that way.

You're right about making Kobe play BUT........Laker fan crying about
poor treatment from the league and or refs is just about as laughable
as it gets. The Lakers always get the whistle, the schedule, and
every other subjective call partially because of the market they are
in, and partially because they are a model franchise and always have
been. Don't whine about "Anything to hamper the Lakers"..

Good point Laurel. If he kept his mouth shut, he could have done it.

Pegged the irony meter.

I have to agree.
I think if a deal looks tainted the league should have a right to step
in.
If the league had not stepped in the Nets would have been royally
screwed, and I feel that this was Cuban's intention the whole time.
The nets were just lucky enough to have Stackhouse open up his big
mouth before hand.
I think the NBA and the commissioner have a duty to protect teams like
the Nets, and make sure all trades are done fairly.
If the players don't like it they will just have to sacrifice a little
pocket change for no trade clauses.
I'm so tired of this players union bull crap, and the threats of
players striking.
A bunch of whinny millionaires in my opinion.
As far as the NBA stepping in, where were they for the trade involving
Bret Barry to the Sonics??
Of course he has the same plans as Stackhouse, he was just smart
enough not to open his mouth.
I hear he plans on resigning with the San Antonio; I also hear the
SUNS are trying to work out a deal to acquire Barry?
Does anyone have any thoughts on that move???

As far as the rules are concerned that is what they are designed to do, give
any team a fair shot at a (now) free agent.
