The same media guys who had the Pats as the greatest team and the coach
a genius now say they played in a weak division and say what was the
coach thinking not going for the fg.

I think the bigger question is how the Patriots played their final four
downs, with about 40 seconds left on the clock.

On EVERY play, they went LONG. Every play seemed designed to be a bomb.

All they needed to do was get within field goal range. And, with the
Giants secondary playing prevent, I thought the Patriots should have
thrown some, quick, short passes (which would have certainly been
completed and it would have allowed Brady to not have to deal with the
Giant defensive line onslaught) and allow the received to pick up mega
yards-after-catch.

Complete a quick, 6-yd slant to the TE and let him run for another 10-15
yards. That would be a first down - requiring them to move the chains -
which would stop the clock. All they needed to do with throw underneath
the Giant's deep coverage and RUN for the yardage, in my opinion.

I think the Patriots were hoping for a defensive interference call down
field as their preferred method of getting into field goal range. A poor
choice.
