View Full Version : DAMN, CHEAPSHOT COWBOY SUSPENDED

THE NFLGURU
12-18-2007, 05:55 AM
The most overrated player in the NFL (Roy Williams) has been suspended for
the horse collar tackle. Williams whose cheapshot and bush league play has
been the talk of whats wrong with the NFL these days, once again sets the
Cowboy example for poor sportsmanship and purposely trying to hurt other
players.

When told about the suspension, Carolina Panthers HC John Fox said "Why
cant he get suspended the following week, we were looking forward to scoring
a few free TD's on him, Damn, now I have to go game plan for him not being
there".

So, what was the penalty on that GB packer that used a horsecollar tackle
last week?

You mean a Cowboy player has been disciplined?

So much for your Jim Beam-induced conspiracy theories.

Hamlin should be suspended too, for what he did to Schobel.

Is that the helmet-to-helmet hit?? I was wondering what, if anything,
the league office did to punish that fucker.

I thought he had a fine coming as well, until I saw the DVR'd game Monday.
The hit wasn't helmet-to-helmet. Replays showed Hamlin hitting Schobel with
his shoulder. Now he did "launch" himself, and it could be interpreted as
hitting a "vulnerable" (or whatever the term the league uses is) receiver.
He may end of being fined for that play after all, but I don't think it'll
be for helmet-to-helmet contact.

kool aid drinking retards trying to rewrite history again. I'd use Stevie

Look at the replay. Even the announcers noted that the defender turned his
head away, and nobody has ever accused anybody in the Buck family of ever
favoring a Cowboy in a game at all. It was a vicious hit... a very hard hit,
and it might draw a fine. I don't know about that, and neither do you. But,
it wasn't flagged for a reason. There were zebras right there and they
apparently saw it as a legal hit.

And before you start your usual whining about the zebras, do recall that the
Iggles kicker basically blocked a zebra out of being able to see defensive
pass interference AND a face mask call by standing in the wrong damned
place.

Yet not a suspension, nor a fine, nor even a flag on the play. So
far, not one person (aside from those afflicted with "Silver Star
Envy"---like yourself) has alleged that it was helmet-to-helmet.

Wonder why that is? Could it be because it wasn't helmet-to-helmet
after all?

You have an obvious jealousy of anything and everything "Cowboy". You
can deny it all you want, but it's as obvious as the red nose on your
face. You know it...and we know you know it.

He finally made a most likely accurate prediction. Ain't no way in hell I
could even stay on the field with an NFL team alone. But, then I don't have
to, so it's another wasted prediction from the idiot that more than one
village is looking feverishly for.

You know... I actually have a serious question for you... not that I expect
anything resembling a serious answer from you.

If you loathe the Cowboys, why the hell do you spend so fricking much time
in this newsgroup... especially so much time being wrong?

Speaking of which...here it is:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7-_E5hNuz0

NFLFROWUP knows that the "helmet-to-helmet" rule is only applicable when the
defender leads with his helmet. It is clear to all that by the sheer means
of Hamlin turning his shoulder into the receiver, he's not leading with his
helmet. Both Aikman and Buck started out calling for a flag. When they
came back from the commercial break, however, Aikman started beack-tracking,
and even acknowledged that Hamlin did turn his shoulder, and did not lead
with his head.

> It was a vicious hit... a very hard hit,

Yes, it was. But it was completely legal in the eyes of the rulebook.
FWIW, I don't like the fact that a defender can "launch" himself, even if
not leading with the helmet. BUT...it's still a legal hit for now, and
about the only thing I like about it is that I can laugh about it at the
expense of NFLGROWUP.

> and it might draw a fine. I don't know about that, and neither do you.

The league did absolutely nothing. There was a reason for that, too.

I don't have a problem with that. There are a few missed calls every week.
The Hamlin hit wasn't one of them, though.

Oh well... I tried.

I guess the best you have IS trying, and usually failing, to make fun of
people you don't know and never will know.

It's a little sad, actually.

But not as sad as it has been hilarious watching you be wrong twelve weeks
out of fourteen and still counting.

Galloway wrote about that very thing in his column, actually trying to
defend Williams, in his word, "sorta."

He was taking the rules committee to task for making the horse collar tackle
illegal and leaving a defensive back able to launch himself at a receiver
and it still be a legal play. He's right in that smashing a receiver
stretched out to catch a ball can, intentionally or completely by accident,
cause a list of damned serious injuries, including spinal contusions and
breaks, and a head scrambling from which one won't recover.

I don't know if the rules committee address that or not... but if they do,
"launching" is gonna become even a more argued fine point than at what point
a pass rusher cannot overcome momentum when hitting a QB.

Oh, I don't have much of a problem with it either, save that it resulted in
a much lower grade penalty than what might have been seen without the
sideline interference.

And yeah, bad calls happen all the time, for and against everybody. That
remark was more for Doo Doo's incessant whining that the zebras are saving
the Cowboys' season for them.
