At least he coughed up the $70,000 voluntarily when he discovered it. Pretty much chump change for him though so not particularly painful. Plaidmoon |

They've discovered a strange but useful creature in the universe called accountants. Probably used a times instead of a gozinta. You kind of take it on faith that the accountant knows what he's doing, but obviously he didn't in this case. After I butchered an Uncle Sam return two years in a row (same mistake both times - didn't get caught for the first until I did it twice), I use an accountant to do my ciphering these days. I mean, Wesley Snipes and Willie Nelsons' accountants both screwed them too. Accountants clearly have it in for Hollywood types. - TMS Yeah, I couldn't say it with a straight face either |

He also was fined by the state of New York for failing to cover workman's compensation benefits for his employees. I don't know if Franken was purposely avoiding making these payments, I doubt it, but the BS about this is if an EVEEL CORPORATION (any company which attempts to generate a profit that doesn't specifically enrich a Franken-approved group) it would be another example of corporate America screwing the working man. Deer Al....maybe the way to avoid problems like this in the future is LESS government interference and simplified tax laws not MORE of the same. -Tom Enright "You can appreciate why Barack Obama is less gung ho than Hillary for socialized health care. If you work at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal or the Queen Elizabeth in Birmingham, England, there are certainly the usual professional diversity apparatchiks but they're not pulling down 350K a year plus benefits. You need a "corporate sector" for that." -Mark Steyn > Plaidmoon |

Did you > mean to say something else? Al Franken whats to greatly increase the size of government, increase taxes, and increase regulation, all of which will further complicate the tax picture. So no, I didn't mean to say something else. -Tom Enright "The easy way to make ethanol is to import sugar from Brazil and use that. Of course we don't and won't do that. The easy way to bring oil prices down is to drill offshore and on the North Slope. Of course we don't do that. The easy way to bring electricity prices down (you can make fertilizer with electricity) is to build nuclear power plants, expensive but cheap compared to wars. Of course we won't do that." -Jerry Pournelle > rich > -- > -to reply, it's hot not warm > +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ > \ Rich Hammett http://home.hiwaay.net/~rhammett > / He always pictured himself a libertarian, which to my > \ way of thinking means ``I want the liberty to grow rich > / and you can have the liberty to starve''.
