Granderson Could Be Back on Wednesday:

http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2008/04/21/granderson-could-be-back-on-wednesday/

Apr 21st 2008 1:23PM by Tom Fornelli

One theory for the slow start the Detroit Tigers offense has
experienced this season was that they were struggling because they
didn't have their spark plug at the top of the order. Curtis
Granderson has been busy nursing a broken hand that's kept him out of
action all season, but the hand has healed and Grandy has been on a
minor-league rehab assignment since Friday.

In the three games Granderson has played in the minors, the hand
doesn't seem to be bothering him too much, as he's hitting .385.
Though Curtis isn't worried as much about his hand, which he says
feels fine, as getting back in game shape.

"That's the one thing I'm struggling with right now," Granderson said.
"There's nothing you can do to simulate game situations. You've got to
be out there."

For Tigers fans wondering when they're going to get to see Curtis "out
there" and patrolling centerfield in Comerica Park, it could be as
soon as Wednesday against the Texas Rangers. He's scheduled to play at
least one more game with the Toledo Mud Hens on Tuesday night, but
depending on how that goes, and how he feels afterwards, he'll likely
be boarding a plane to Detroit.

Whether or not his return will be the spark plug the Tigers have been
waiting for (Did he by chance learn to pitch on his rehab
assignment?), well, we'll just have to wait and see.

I doubt that. It would take at least twice as long to drive to and from
airports as it would to just drive straight to Comerica Park...

I would bet the Tigers want him back so badly that they will charter
a private plane from a private airport to get him to Comerica as
quickly as possible.

My initial point still stands, IF he were, in fact, in Toledo. He is, in
fact, in West Michigan. I beleive this because I heard Dave Dombrowski, and
not some MORON sporstwriter, say so. Of course, from there, it makes even
more sense to drive than to fly.

Granderson, playing his last minor league rehab game while recovering
from a broken hand, left Tuesday's game with Single-A West Michigan
Whitecaps with tightness in his legs. Leyland said that Granderson
will report to the Tigers on Wednesday, and undergo an evaluation
before any decision is made about his return to the lineup.

And for the geographically challenged among us, the distance between
Comstock Park, Michigan and Detroit is about 165 miles. Hardly worth
getting on an airplane unless it is a Cessna. And the distance
between Toledo and Detroit? About 60 miles..not even worth firing a
Cessna up for.
