....and they brought up eric patterson....are they hoping he can play
outfield (well)? and are they done with matt murton? he actually plays left field. no hes not left handed or fleet of feet. but im a little confused. this wont make or break anything - but every little thing helps, even for at least 2 weeks without our (amazing) lead off hitter. (hop) (snap) |

Don't know how much of a factor this is but Patterson does hit left-handed and provides speed, neither of which is true about Murton. A much bigger factor, I heard (if true) Murton is out of options, making it very tough to return him to the minors. Someone more up to date regarding his option status may be able to clarify. tks |

I would like to see the Cubs go after Kelly Johnson. Atlanta has shown some
interest in Jason Marquis and the Cubs have several relievers that are better than Atlanta's healthy closers. Throw in an extra hitter and you might make a deal. Johnson is a good at both second and the outfield. Each YEAR counts as one option. Murton has already been optioned this year and so there is no cost whatsoever to moving him up and down as much as the Cubs like. as big reason Murton was optioned in the first palce was because he was not out of options and Cedeno was. ray heitmann |
