Both Lester and Halladay were terrific for 8 innings. In the 9th, the
RS manager had the good sense to take out his tired pitcher and go to the BP. Gibbons ***allowed*** Halladay to finish, not even having a relief pitcher warming up. I guess we know who is running THAT club <g>. Those moves could have gone the other way --- Paps could have been bad and Halladay could have continued to be great. But it is not the way to bet, or at least I would not bet that way. I was VERY happy to see a tired but combative Halladay coming out for the bottom of the 9th, to face batters with pretty good numbers against him. Perhaps the Jays' pen is dead, but otherwise, I think Gibbons made a bad (good) decision. |
